1st International Symposium on Human ICT Convergence
19th Nov. 2014
SKKU Auditorium,  Sungkyunkwan Univ. Suwon, Korea

Objective: To provide a venue for researchers and industry practitioners to discuss and share information on emerging trends, research progress and applications of interaction of things (IoT)” that are specific to Human ICT (Information Cognition Technology) Convergence.

Background: In this era of “Innovation of Smart Things in Everywhere, Everybody, and Every device that Care You in Hyper-Connection Society”, companies face great challenges in innovating new value of smart care device through lateral collaboration of culture of smart life, emotional design, and marketing. Few products are developed by individuals working alone, but rather involve highly iterative activities of a group of designers. The successful design process should include graphic, industrial mechanical and electronic design. This requires collaboration, knowledge and expertise of various disciplines, which may be geographically dispersed. Paul Hogan said “You cannot create new ones unless you can imagine things that are not existing.” Appropriately wearable sensor applications are expected to create a major impact in global healthcare.
Despite the emergence of smart wearable products, there is shortage of human-centered smart care design
that incorporates themes such as “interactive wearable, playful interaction, context-aware embodied cognition, design humaneering”, in which concentrates on designing an object to the “specifications” of the human system.

Introduction: Organized by the Human ICT Convergence research Lab., called H-Lab. in SKKU, this forum will discuss technology trends, key issues in Interaction of ThingsFirst, the current spectrum of research themes will be explored and the research progress and achievements mainly by H-Lab. and its collaboration partners will be presented.  Discussions on how the latest technologies can be applied to benefit industry will also be held. Researchers from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, De Montfort University, UK, and experts from Samsung, and LG will share their views and progress on related technologies. Officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning will be invited to attend.

Topics: The 2014 symposium will be organized into two themes:
¨      Interactive wearable,  Playful interaction,
¨      Design for Context-aware embodied cognition , Design humaneering

This first symposium is open to public and presented by invited participants. It may be organized annually as a regular event and open to the public worldwide.

The forum is scheduled as follows:
